EPQ
The Extended Project Qualification is a Level 3 qualification which requires entrants to produce a single piece of work of their own choosing.
Students will need to show skills such as planning, preparation, research, independent working, analysis and evaluation. The project could be a report of an investigation, a design, a dissertation, a model or performance, The qualification allows the student to select a topic of specific interest to them. The recommended time required to undertake the EPQ is 120 hours.
Benefits to students include gaining a qualification which is worth half an A Level. The EPQ enhances students applications to university and employment as well as giving the opportunity to learn a variety of valuable skills which will be of use in the future. Completing the EPQ shows universities and employers that the student has a high level of motivation to study a subject of interest in greater depth.
Students in Year 12 who opt to undertake the Extended Project Qualification will start the course in the January of Year 12 and it will be completed in the October of Year 13.
